Kelowna General Hospital, Clinical Academic Campus, Southern Medical Program
The new clinical campus building located at the Kelowna General Hospital building in Kelowna, BC includes a
250-seat lecture theatre, a 35-seat large seminar room, a 16 seat small seminar room, an 8-seat small seminar room
and a centralized technology office, all equipped with full distance education capabilities, meeting the performance,
functional and operational requirements of the UBC distributed medical program.
The centralized technology office provides the ability to remotely monitor and control the sessions in all rooms from one
location. The operator is able to view all video signals on the three 30” displays, with up to 5 images displayed on one
screen. A wall mount speaker and three headphone stations allow monitoring of multiple simultaneous sessions. The
operator also has the ability to talk directly into the room or to all sites connected to the session via the operator
microphone. If necessary, the operator has the ability to control the AV systems remotely, and/or make adjustments in
the background without the instructor and/or participants noticing.
