What happens when a fitness instructor, who specializes in Cardiac Rehabilitation, has a heart attack? Former Post Cardiac Rehab fitness instructor, Ruth Baines draws on her experiences with cardiac clients and their personal experiences to create an intimate and honest portrayal of living with heart disease. The Beat Goes On is premiering at the Winnipeg International Fringe Festival in July 2001. And has been invited by the Shawnesssy Hospital Cardiac Alumni Members to perform in their theatre night this fall in Vancouver. The first reviews are in, and they're good! Created and performed by Ruth Baines About RuthCreator/performer Ruth Baines has most recently worked with Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers as Assistant Stage Manager on their show The Garden, which premiered in May 2001. Ms. Baines feels that the time spent with the company during the creative process has influenced her own work. She is a graduate of York University where she received an honour degree in dance choreography. Following her undergraduate work Ms Baines completed the professional training program at the prestigious Main Dance school in Vancouver. Since completing her formal education Ms Baines has worked with several of Vancouver's senior choreographers both as a performer and administrator.
