in-terr-arium: (n.) An event that nurtures interdisciplinary practices resulting in creative growth, critical perspectives and new creations that blur the line between disciplines. From inter- (prefix)between, among, and terrarium (n.) a sealed glass container that is used for cultivating living
entities.

In collaboration with the Banff Centre for the Arts and the 2007 High Performance Rodeo, Springboard Dance is proud to present Interrarium, a creative residency with internationally-renowned Canadian creators Istvan Kantor, Darren O'Donnell and Tedd Robinson. Interrarium exists to inspire, investigate and showcase new work in contemporary performance which blurs
the line between disciplines and body based performance; bringing artists from diverse backgrounds together in the spirit of innovation. Interrarium is a process-oriented, fluid, creative environment for dialogue, critical thinking and experimentation.
Encouraging research and development through rational, intuitive and creative thinking and doing; - a hot bed for creative exchange and interdisciplinary performance.

This stimulating creative workshop for professional and advanced level performance-based artists will take the form of a laboratory with a conceptual, minimalist and multidisciplinary approach. Participants will explore ideas, performance & creation strategies, thematic triggers and references put forward by the facilitators in an in-depth exploration of creative process. With a strong emphasis on both solo and collaborative creation, participants will work across disciplines.
Pushing themselves. Pushing their craft. Pushing their vision.

The Details

For those that explore and create within a contemporary performance practice... performing artsts, dance artists, choreographers, theatre artists, storytellers, video artists..visual artists...Interdisciplinary creators...transdisciplinary practitioners...or those curious about creative process from divergent perspectives.

Two week creative residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts
December 11-22, 2006 (Monday - Saturday work week)

Cost $500
Fee includes creative residency, as well as (shared) room and board at the Banff Centre for the Arts.
